Starting from CSS,
straight into Merstham on A23, go past Feathers PH on sharp LH bend
Left turn down school hill,
First R Nutfield road
Stay on this road, up church hill,
Cross over A25 and descend hill
Stay on this road till T junct.
turn right
S over RABout
continue till traffic lights, S over,
continue till T junc
Left turn,
down hill to RAB,
3rd exit,
1st left into old hollow and follow till end of road,
Left turn
Ascend up long drag passed Tulleys farm till next juct, Y shaped junc,
Left turn and proceed to Xroads,
right turn,
down hill , SO RAbout,
stay on this road for ages! go passed wakehurst, ardingly showground, ardingly, and lindfield.
head toward haywards heath.
At RAB 3rd exit (ithink)
A few long stretches of undulating road should see you approaching village of ditchling.
curse your way up the hill
big grin along the descent at the top.
Beware L turn onto a27
descend like a maniac 50mph- try to set off speed camera!
Right at traffic lights,
SO to brighton.
Take a map to be sure.
Do you remember the mad dash we had going down on the summer CR? We were really shifting after we got to turners hill.

I really don't like this bit - too busy and on main roads......suggestion:

try turning left at the fork via West Hoathly, through the village of Sharpthorne, and turn Right (signpost industrial estate - 1 warehouse -careful spelling  ) into Horsted Lane and descend forever - a lovely road. Up a small rise, straight over the next junction. Right at the T, under the railway (Bluebell - steam) then keep left, descend (care)MONT(E)Y'S HILL. Keep left at the fork and left again to the main road (A272).Right up the hill and immediately left (Slugwash Lane). Right at the end to Wivelsfield Green, turning Right at the junction, ignorong the small side roads and village hall into South Road, keep Right at the mini RBT down Hundred Acre Lane. At the T junction turn left then IMMEDIATELY right through Plumpton til the main road (B2116) Turn right and after about 1/4 mile, keep left into what looks like a farm track, but is actually a road - Underhill Lane. This cuts across and joins Ditchling part way up........

Enjoy :D Wish I could ride down with you

Easiest way is probably to photocopy a bit of the relevent OS map and carry a bit of folded A4 in your pocket.

You could use http://www.gmap-pedometer.com to trace the route but shrinking it to print would probably make it pretty unreadable.

So that's obviously a great idea  - about as much use as a chocolate fireguard :D

Think this is the route mentioned... although google won't route down the "farm track" near ditchling:-
