Punctures

Postby jon avery » Mon Jan 28, 2008 8:43 am

After having not on but two puntures on the CR on Sat, i was thinking is there a guide to when you change your tyres, my tyres look ok and are not cut up that bad. I have done approx 7000 miles on them, approx how many miles do you get out of a set of tyres?

Not only luck, but the sort of roads and conditions. Only riding in the summer on main roads and unlikely to ever puncture (now there's a plan)

some tyres -- inc GP4000s -- have a couple of little holes as a wear guide. once the the tyres are worn enough that these holes are no longer visible, you are supposed to replace

However, by the time the little wear indicator things are no longer visible, you've forgotten they were there in the first place.

I wondered what they were, I thought they were "nearly" punctures - me bubble has been somewhat burst, shame :(

My tyres never get anywhere near wearing these holes down before they start to puncture when I think about riding my bike
