Stu, Rob, Aodan Simon etc ... CX team champs 10th Feb?

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Stu how do you fancy racing off-road on Sunday in a team race?

The cyclo-cross team champs are held at Hainault Park, that was used for Beastway last year - it would be a good venue for a first off-road race - not too technical but fun course, not too long at about an hour, and should be loads of support from the public. I'm using a mtb for these races and so are a lot of people.

I could drive and fit one person in my car, or two if someone's got a bike rack to lend.

I probably won't be able to make the clubrun this Saturday, so would be well up for racing on Sunday.

No, everyone sets off at the same time and the times from the first three riders of each team count.

Awww! I would SO love to be there! Alas, I already have plans...

Is this a one-off, or will there be other similar events? With a little more notice I could be a starter...

Are you allowed to use an MTB with disc brakes?

Jeez they don't come cheap! http://www.betd.co.uk/items.asp?Categor ... %2FHangers

No I don't have one around, but know someone at Goldtec/BETD, maybe I could ask them if they can send one quickly

I haven't looked elsewhere so not sure how easy to find they are, I know when I needed a GT one it was the only place I found one.

Stu how are you getting on with the Time pedals, entry/release ok?

If necessary I have some spare Shimano pedals/cleats that are a doddle to get in/out of.

Stu we could do this: tomorrow night I ride to CSS like I did last time, with the pedals & cleats.
Then you can try them on later and see in time for the weekend if you feel safer with them.
I had some Time at one point but never managed to get used to them.
I wouldn't want to enter a race with pedals I'm not comfortable with.

Stu - Do NOT try to clip into the Shimano pedals in my shoes with the Time cleats on. You will never be able to unclip (if you manage to clip in) and I don't want to have my shoes full of blood from where we've had to amputate your feet to separate you from the bike.

Have you tried moving the cleats so that the clip in puts your feet at the same place as on your road pedals?
