ACC longsleeve jersey, and gilet

Postby Elliot M » Tue Feb 05, 2008 5:33 pm

My longsleeve "breezewall" jersey has kind of decayed! The middle layer - the windproof one - sandwiched between the inner and outer layers of fabric on the front of the sleeves and chest - has fallen apart into lots of little bits ...

Not really a criticism -- I've never looked at the label and may well have washed it too hot. And I've had it since they came out (2003?) I thought it quite good top for dry cold days. But probably would go for something else next time. Anyone able to tell me if the gilet is similar construction?

I have the old style gilet which has the windstopper front and back, and the zipped pocket on the back.

I've worn it once in the last year (and only a couple of times before that) as I find it much too hot with the windstopper on the back as well. You can have it if you want Elliot, should fit you I think. If you don't like it just pass it on to someone else in the club.

My ACC Breeze Wall top started delaminating down the baffle behind the zip after the second wash (30dC, Persil silks & wool for delicates). I stitched it up as it kept catching in the zip and it was okay for couple of years, but now all the BW panels have broken down - the membrane is like a rubbery gel sandwiched in the middle.

I've got both Gilets and neither of them have the Breeze Wall. The original is very warm being some kind of windstopper front and back, the newer mesh back one is Gore Windstopper on the front. I'd like to replace the Long Sleeve Breeze Wall with something that's not going to go the same way. I have an excellent De Marchi Themoshield top but it's the old Addiscombe yellow which clashes with the Gilet!
