Etape Du Tour

Postby Dave A » Thu Apr 01, 2004 11:41 am

I am doing this year's Etape Du Tour with Graham Baxter. I have booked myself on the cheapest package, which gives me three nights in a fairly basic hotel.

I am undecided as to how to get to Limoges. I am not too keen on flying, and would prefer to drive it.

Is anyone else from the club doing it this year, and would they be intersted in splitting the costs and chores of driving ?

I will be going this year and I am definitely driving.

I would be happy to split chores but at the moment I'm not sure of when I'll be travelling. I was hoping to go out for 3 or 4 days before and enjoy the sunshine but at the moment I've got a work committment which mucks that up.

I am hoping to be doing the Etape, has not been confirmed on the site yet. If I get a place am intending to just go on the Friday, do the race and come back on the Monday, the day after the race.

If this fits in with your plans then when I have been assured of a place I will give you a shout.

Cheers

I'm doing the etape, but with the way things are at work it will be a case of travel to Limoges saturday (fingers crossed my bike arrives with me !), register, do the race sunday and fly back to blighty monday.
Flying would be the easiest option for me.
If things change I'll let you know.

I am in hoaray, just need to work out how to get there and where to stay. Anyone got any advice on where to stay etc. I have not gone through a tour operator so will need some help here.

Dave if you are still going by Car can you let me know your plans re: day you are leaving and coming back and if you know which Hotel it is I will give them a call and see if they have any spare places.

Cheers

One of theadvantages of the tour operator is that they will organise buses to get you from hotel to start (at a stupid hour of the morning) and from finsh to hotel (through generally fairly bad traffic) and maybe store your spare gear in the meantime.

If you go independently you will have to do this yourself, I think the organisers put on a bus from finish to start (might need to pre-book), not sure about spare gear though.
