Come on Sean Old Ports. LSD - This would give you about 100 miles total with the "ride" itself being about 60-65 in the middle. Gentle spin over there; register; cup of coffee and a chin-wag; ride event; food and drink post ride while everyone comes in; ride home.
Should be plenty of Addiscombe and you'll always have someone to ride with even if they are from another club.
The early start's not that bad and you can always have a kip in the afternoon when you get back.
Warm glow and general feeling of satisfaction when you get home.

Andrew- you paint such a pretty picture  ,

I especially like the "gloss work" between "gentle ride over, coffee yadda yadda... and ...food and drink, pootle home.....

The weather always stays good whenever we go away in Feb, and this weekend looks fine for a start, go on Sean- you can't ride with the 16.5s forever

Nobody mentioned that before

Go on Snoop - build on the foundations set at the Ashdown - be warned though - its a more demanding route than the Hell - see the old ports thread for a preview.

Oh......go on then. I'm a sucker ain't I. Good training I guess. Do I get a route card so I can get lost in style...? Thanks for the encouragement and the earlier advice on this thread huw - I'll try my level best not to get quite so isolated this time, I must've done 90+% of the Ashdown on me tod :(

Bring it on!!

Footnote to coach Viney - if you think I'm doing that 2x20 over the weekend as well as this......think again (please) guv

Fantastic Cap'n.
The route is signed, although they'll be smaller that HoA, and they give you a route card too.

Just waiting for Sean now.... :D

Yeah you'll get a route card but there'll be much fewer riders so prepare for glorious isolation. Why not do the 2x20s ON the Old Ports ride? Once betwen Penshurst and Forcdcombe 5 min recovery down Groombridge then 2nd interval up Ashdown? sorted :D

You won't regret it! Meet at trinity roundabout, by the school at the end of Addiscombe Road, Andrew will probably be flying so we can ride around "together". Well done Sean!!

Nice one Sean. You'll enjoy it trust me, the route is a really good one, just make sure you've got a couple of bottles and some grub (energy bars) in your pockets as the "feed" at the checkpoint won't be what you had on the NC. Cup of tea at the top of Ashdown if you stopped, and top your water up at the final one if I remember.
