Absolutely fantastic day today and the course was in fine condition with little wind, I managed to wear my skinsuit and Aero lid for the first time.
Well I know this course pretty well it is part of our clubrun we ride every week but it was a little lumpy to say the least.
At the start Andrew was there to support us and had a test ride out on his HED TT machine, the starter recognized me from when I won a Criterium down in Brighton last year, he said "well your in the wrong category" But I did tell him it was my first proper TT event
Started off well at Faygate and got into a nice position on the Aero bars, I could feel I was tanking along and and had passed 3 riders before I'd even got to Rusper
Down the hill and everything seemed to be going by very fast, there was the Wop Wop of the Disc wheel all the time and the whistle of the wind through the Aero lid was quite noisey.
coming back up partridge lane and there were quite a long few drags where my speed would drop down to the early 20's.
I was reeling in lots of riders and think I passed about 8 in total, one on an old sit up and beg fixed wheel bike. At one stage a car had slowed behind a rider so I overtook them both which was fun
The final bend at the bottom of the hill after Rusper, I took at full speed and cranked it over almost running off the road. Up the last drags and back down to cross the finish line, I was coughing up my lungs which Andrew told me was a classic time triallers cough.
Enjoyed the ride today but was feeling a little weak after having 10 days off the bike with man Flu
Still happy with my time of 34.42 I easily took the class win by over a minute but there were 5 Elites who managed to go faster
, so I was presented with a nice 1st place cheque and vouchers to spend at In Gear Cycle Sport.
So all I've gotta do now is get quicker cos the winner was nearly 3 minutes quicker
