If you have cable or satellite, series 1 of Life on Mars is being shown on Tuesday nights at 10pm on Bravo.

I quite enjoyed it last night, but it did feel a *little* contrived to me. However, it was obvious that the producers and cast were having fun with the idea last night.

The Audi Quatro was NOT available in the UK in 1981 - bloody good car all the same and casting Keeley Hawes as a gun-totting leather-clad psychologist suggests the producer was hardly taking authenticity too seriously

I'm getting some cleats fitted to a pair of snakeskin cuban heel boots as we speak

I liked Life on Mars to start with but drifted from it, don't know why but seems to happen with everything with John Simm in it. It was the same with The Lakes, and that one where he was a journalist.

80s is a bit more me but I was out last night, does anyone know if it's repeated anywhere (I have sky so any digital channel would be good).

Failing that I'll have to watch it on the laptop and run a cable to the tele but whenever I do that I tend to trip over the damn thing at some point and send my computer flying.

Ah, those were the days. When you could brand someone a 'fascist' just because they owned a pair of socks!

"Fire up the Quattro!" Pure class.

I think the best line last night was one of Gene's first lines, as the leather-clad one fainted murmering his name - "My reputation precedes me."

Not just for the line, but for the way Philip Glennister delivered it. Brilliant.
