The excellent Beastway series starts on Wednesday May 19th and runs for 11 weeks till end of July. Located in North East London (Eastway cycling circuit).

Ideal for people who want to have a go at racing mtb, as the course is mainly flat and non-technical (but good fun and changes every week), the races only last an hour and a bit, and the atmosphere is fairly relaxed (there's even a fancy dress round), and Addiscombe will be promoting one of the last rounds.

Last year we had more than ten members competing.

I plan to do as many of these as possible - I'm assuming it will be similar to the 'cross races that they held there over Winter. Will try and make the one next week.

This will be the acc challenge - whoever gets a photo of his/her mug pulling a tongue or a funny face to the camera, published on beastway.com, will get a point every time.

In the end we'll count 'em and work out a prize or something ...

I wasn't having a good time - I went slowly at the start as I hadn't recc'd the course so was at the back - things got worse when I went the wrong way and lost even more time - thought it wasn't worth it, so rode home before I'd completed the 1st lap. They said I could keep my number so I suppose I'll be back - probably in a better mood, and with enough time to do a practice lap.

I only lasted 2 laps... yeah you keep your number and just pay each time. Some of us will be there every week I am sure so hope to see you again!
