Regardless of where they came from, they were arseholes.
Anyhow, spent an hour in the Police station this morning. The officer said that the controller I spoke to yesterday was out of order for not sending a car and an ambulance to attend the scene. Say's a lot doesn't it. Who says Surrey Police try to avoid reporting anything!? Anyway, the officers in the station were very helpful and sympathetic while going through it all with me. So the case is now passed to the Road Accident Investigation Dept. which is ironically in Reigate! Anyhow, they will hopefully be in contact by the end of the week, so perhaps we may make some progress. I think the dificulty will be proving it though somehow.
The officers in the station recommend that in future, I or anyone calls 999 straight away and demand a car and an ambulance to be sent regardless of how bad you 'think' your hurt, or whether the offending vehicle stops or not. This way the records get started up straight away. There was no record of my call yesterday at all, apparently there should have been.
Anyway, I well and truly stuck up my middle finger to the van men this afternoon. I dusted off the Trek and got right back out there. When I woke up this morning I was really suprised that my knee actually felt much better than last night, I was expecting it to have ceased up good and proper, like! So I rolled around for an hour or so over to Cheam then back over by Epsom Downs before home. I was actually able to put a fairly normal amount of pressure on the knee and it was fine. The only reason I really noticed it was the big dressing bulging through the leg warmers! Oh and every time the inside of the knee brushed the top tube, I knew about it, its still very bruised! But really I felt pretty good considering. So I'll hopefully do some more tomorow and maybe even get back to my interval sessions by Wednesday!
This incident will not stop me winning again...
