Nice post Huw brings back some great memories - had a great few lost years partying/playing/drinking in/around Islington, Camden and the like. Lush.....how under rated, good pic. I loved their single Shake Baby Shake - cheesy but wonderful.

I lived in Camden in 92-93 while at college and so must have bumped into you in the Good Mixer at some point! I was more grunge than shoegazer though. One of my male friends was absolutely obsessed with Miki - he dyed his hair to match hers

Justine from Elastica was an occasional guest critic on my architecture course. She once told me I hadn't done enough work - bit much I thought given their output.

I still think Lush's song Ladykillers is THE seminal feminist rock song OF ALL TIME. Imagine my surprise when I found her working in marketing up at IPCs head office a couple of years ago.
I was living in a housing assosciation town house in Belsize Park at the time and in the flat above were Harriet Wheeler and Dave Gavurin of The Sundays - very Bohemian we were used to have roof parties, the lot!
I See Miki once a year at the editorial awards and we catch up - A while back she said that Lush were looking to go back on tour but I don't know if they ever did

Awesome - The Family Cat were THE biggest band never to make it big - saw them hundereds of times and I've still got a demo cassette that Fred gave me before they recorded their first album which has got unreleased tracks on it

Its the little things in life that sometimes make the biggest impression. I was in Harriet's kitchen once when she was making us dinner and she was singing 'here's where the story ends' - which in THAT voice is about the sweetest thing you could ever imagine. A few months later she was singing it for thousands with the band at the Union Chapel but I'll always remember her solo 'roast potato mix' with the most affection
