More bad news

Postby Nick » Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:36 pm

Just as I was getting over my recent bout of bad luck I had another blow on friday night. (not that sort of blow unfortunautly)

I have ripped/sheared all the muscles, tendons and ligaments that connect to my knee cap. They were sheared off by the ligament ripping on the outside of the knee. I also have a fracture to my thigh bone/knee joint I had a 3-hour operation to reconnect all of these. I have a full-length plaster cast on my right leg from hip to ankle which is already showing a Westcombe park logo and ACC cycling logo soon to follow is the St.George cross flag.

I have to have a window cut out in the knee area of the cast in 2 weeks time so they can check my operation and scar. I have been informed the cast will stay on for at least 6 weeks and full recovery no sooner than 6 months. (I am sure I can cut these times down with some good care and attention and hard work) all under medical supervision.

It was caused by me dancing at a Soul night (Nothing to fancy) and the twisting of my ankle a week earlier weaking my ligaments around the knee area.

Nick

Need a bit more Good luck any ideas were some can be got??????

Oh thats a shame, but guess what, DR LASER might be able to help you give him a call, he's the best fracture healer in the UK.
http://www.physioclinic.net/equip.htmlDon't worry can even laser through plaster casts.
Enjoy the sympathy vote and let everyone do everything for you.

Well, who's next... Think I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap tomorow when I go training. Just to be safe.

Take it easy Nick, I'm sure you'll be back before you know it...

George has already patented this as a method against the cold when you forgot your warm clothes for riding.

Hope you get better soon Nick.

That is a horrendous injury, you have all my sympathy as you and yourself about. I had a leg in a full length brace before but at least I could take that off now and again, a full cast doesn't sound much fun. :(

Such an innocuous way to injure yourself, it doesn't sound as though dancing is a safe hobby.

All the best with the rehab, you're going to have one skinny leg when that cast comes off. You're a tough bugger though so I'm sure you'll come through it, just think of all that time you'll get to spend with the nurses

Blimey Nick, that brings a whole new meaning to "break-dancing".
Get well soon, and stick to the bike in future - much safer.

Sorry to hear about this latest set back, Nick.

I hope they repair you quickly and that we get to see you out on the club run in the spring.

Thanks for all the messages I have been told today that I have over 100 sticthes and 8 staples holding it all together.

Just means I 'll have to spend more time on the XBOX saving the World :!: on Call Of Duty 4 such a shame :D .

Still smiling and yes my pecker still works even though I'm sure we will have to find a few variations on who goes where  but as I said to maxine For the forseeable future there always be along stiff one for you in my trousers.
