Sunday Ride

Postby mlocke » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:06 pm

The missus is going to Japan for two weeks on Saturday so I have to take her to the airport and can't make the clubrun.

Is anyone out on Sunday?

Open to suggestions on the route - was maybe thinking the Hilly 50 again if no-one has any othe suggestions

Cheers

Mark

I might haul my ass onto the bike tomorrow - but definitely not at 7.30am. What time were you thinking of heading out Mark?

Ok

Well I should be there at 9 but if i am not there by 5 past then go without me as the missus isn't there to wake me up so I will be relying on the dog!

Thats normally what I say Tamar. In real speak that means there's an 80% chance that I won't show :D

Bit late to be posting to this thread maybe, but I'm up for a ride tomorrow, having missed out again today. Should be able to make CSS for 9.
Same rules apply though please don't wait if I'm not there.

Ok so only Neil Mac, Mark (Ithink, sorry, brain lapse time) and myself turned out for the ride and what a great ride it was. Left CSS, looked for the others at the library but made the decision to just go for it. Cut down towards Headly Heath and through the lanes, I dont know that area at all so bit vague about the route but there was a few nice climbs which I managed well with considering was a bit pooped from yesterday. Neil didn't want a particulary hard ride but he soon got comfortable and away we went.

Couple of dodgy moments, nearly got savaged my dog on the loose, soon sorted the owner out with a choice bit of advice on health and safety. Next was a crazy man cutting a corner coming towards us on a greasey road with a car facing him head on, it was the car or the bank at the side of the road, he chose the bank. I checked to see if he was ok and he replied 'yes'.

Weather was fantastic, had a good steady climb up to box hill where it was a tea and cake stop made all the more enjoyable by sitting in the warm sunshine, was glorious. Bumped into Kevin who'd been out on his own so we set off back to Sutton leaving Neil and Mark? to go a different route. Great ride back with Kevin, he's a quick rider, blasted down the mad mile at 35 mph with him sucking my wheel.

Did a total of 65 miles for the day ave 18.5 so considering the route not a bad overall speed.

Great day, great company, those who didn't turn up missed a lovely ride out.

Thanks guys. :D
