A very stupid Question.

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

A very stupid Question.

Having trawled the internet I have come to the conclusion I am exceptionally stupid; hence the blondeness.  :?

Would someone in words of less than one syllable please explain to me how you enter these surrey league races?

Anyone who has an answer that I can understand/utilize will win themselves a domestique/lead out man for the rest of season!

1. Dan the first thing you've got to do is become a member of the Surrey League, that way the races will work out much cheaper, it costs £20 to be affiliated with the club, then its £5 saving for each entry, so go to the following page and download and print off rider application Form fill this in and post off with cheque.
http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/howtojoin.htm

2. Look at the calender to see what races you want to enterhttp://www.surreyleague.co.uk/calendar.htm

3. Now the tricky bit  Filling in the Nomination form and knowing what to do with it? first download and print off the Nomination Formhttp://www.surreyleague.co.uk/howtojoin.htm

4. About a week or so before the race fill in the form with all the race details and your details plus a cheque for £12

5. If you feeling cheeky ( what I did last year  ) post it off directly to Surrey Cycle Racing League Administration at 22 Picton Close, Camberley, Surrey GU15 1QT and sign the form yourself.

6. If you want to do this properly then post this form off to our Surrey League club representative Paul Tunnell Addiscombe CC
send Paul a PM for his address. Where he then sends off to the Surrey League all the Addiscombe entry's for that event in one go, well thats the theory.

7. You can check to see if your entered for the event herehttp://www.surreyleague.co.uk/calendar.htmon the right hand side Entry

You have to fill out a new form for each race? Can't you just enter on the line?

Even if you enter on the day you still have to fill in a form, but sometimes the races are really full up so to avoid disappointment, like what happened to Adam last year at a race, he was turned away on the morning cos it was full up.

Rob count yourself lucky! Testers need to enter about 2 weeks in advance for open TT's with no entry on the line

You can EOL for Chertsey Rob as the fields are unlimited due to the size of the closed circuit, fields need to be limited on normal SL races as they are on open roads.

Regarding the manual pen and ink nature of it you have to remember that all of these things are run by volunteers so there is limited funds to put in to online entry. The CTT were trying to introduce online entry for this seasdon but it has had to be put off as I think it was becoming too difficult and costly to make it safe and secure.

You need 2 weeks for the TTs George as the organiser has to filter through up to 120 entries and seed all the riders based on PBs, produce a start order based on this and then get the start sheets sent out to everyone. This will normally be done by someone in there spare time around their job, not an easy task. I'm sure Jon, Tamar, and Keith could let you know how much fun this is :D .

Edited your excellent instructions George to take out Paul's address as I don't think we should have addresses on the forum, it is viewable by anybody.

Send Paul a PM for his address so you can enter please.

Hmmm, next SL event for 4th cats isn't till 23rd March.
What else would be a good starting event for a complete nump^h^h^h^h novice?

Re. applying a week in advance, the SL rules say:
Entry must be made through Club Representatives to reach the League not later than 21 days prior to the Event.

Or have I completely misunderstood/misread that?

Ivor.

Geogre + Andrew,

Thank you very much.

I had got as far as working out that it was best to join and Paul was involved somehow but from the site the rest made no-sense whatsoever. :?

And as promised my help is available in any races we are in together. Especially in your case George as you need all the help you can get!
