To endorse Marco's enthusiasm, I followed Paris-Nice all the way (as a journalist) in the mid-1960s. Allowing for the great changes in everything since, there really was close access to riders. As it's the first stage work-out of the season, things aren't so intense (and the control-freak American teams are out of the picture now ).
