Ok so where do we stand when linking to images obviously belonging to someone else?
I know we should legally ask permission, but what is the moderator's/club's view?

We should obviously credit the photographer and site where possible but always asking for prior permission?!!

Ok let's face it I am mainly referring to local photographers and sites from within our cycling community...... not worried about the distant intnl sites.

Specifically, I'm pretty sure London Cycle Sport are happy about it, theres some text on their site about it somewhere about fine to use elsewhere, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Here it is - partly right, it's fine if the images are ones with the logo on:

[quote]We are happy to see our pictures used elsewhere, and if they can be used to promote a club or an event then all the better. We retain copyright.
Pictures marked londoncyclesport, beastway/xtra or beastway.com can be used as above. If otherwise marked please contact the person concerned to use their pictures.

If you do use or want to use any picture or other material, please tell us - which is only fair

We are very interested in receiving information, new, stories etc, and pictures, including drawings or artwork.

I've just emailed Dennis Sackett to see if it's OK with him if we link to his pictures.

I know Brain Jones (Kimroy Photography) has some pretty strongly worded stuff on his site about copyright of his pictures, so probably not a good idea to link to there.

Had a reply from Dennis Sackett and it's fine with him to link to his photos - as Marco says it's more publicity.
