East Surrey Hardriders March 9th

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

East Surrey Hardriders March 9th

I'm having a pop @ this, never done it before.

Any hints/tips (apart from....don't!) very much appreciated.

Saw Rob RE @ the Royal Standard who said he's entered and it's in Dominics schedule. So....if they both steam round and I don't fall off we might get a team prize    yeah right!!!

I understand a rather secretive tester may also have this in his sights so methinks my goal may be revised somewhat

It's a great event, I really enjoyed it last year.

My only tip would be not to start too fast, because that hill up to Holmwood is a bu**er :!:

See you there.

Gulp!!

Just got the programme for this - belter of a course eh wot? There are three very quick ACCers up for this so stay upright y'all and I think you could well take the team prize. I'll buy you all a slice of cake if you win it  .

I think I will use my road bike for this - I've yet to try out my old bike with John's Hed bars on the road yet.....is that likely to put me @ a big disadvantage I wonder - no more than my natural sluggishness methinks.

Never raced this early in the season before now - kinda looking forward to having a go for real.

Question: is hurst hill worse than the climb up towards North Holmwood...? Need to know how much I should leave in the tank for it.

Cheers - Snoop

From The 3rd man,

I`ll be on my original race bike (road bike with ergo stem and aero bars). The climb to north holmwood is just a drag, hurst hill ( thats the one up to Rusper? !) certainly tougher, once you clear that its plain sailing. Hopefully no strong head winds on Sunday. Whats your prediction for how you will do? Mine, just try and beat my vet standard and not succumb to the snuffles I have at the mo.

Hurst Hill is short and fairly steep. The advice given to me last year was put it in the little ring and spin up it. Unfortunately I had put clip ons on my road bike and snagged the cable for the front gears and could not change into my little ring. Of course I only discovered this when I got to Hurst Hill

Don't worry about it Snoop you will enjoy it. It is a good course and good EARLY season event :D
