Dominic and I were in action this morning around the Surrey hills, the weather was bright and warm but the roads were still a little moist especially in the shaded lanes.
Coast hill on the A25 right at the start is 12% and I was in the little ring and standing up, but I had to be careful because when I pushed hard on the pedals the rear disc wheel was sliding all over the place I had 150psi in the tubs, maybe tht's alittle too much for this time of the year, I cranked it up down to Abinger Hammer and really took it gingerly at the left turn in the town, but remembered to smile for Belinda's camera!
The long drag up to Holmbury St Mary wasn't as bad as I was expecting, it still seemed harder than the last TT to keep the speed up on the hills.
I caught my minute man here so had 2 more to reel in to get home first, my legs felt strong today, but in the TT position I found they seemed to feel weak and couldn't quite work out how to get the power through
On the run in to Walliswood I went past the two other riders so now I was first man on the road , Up to Ockley it was a long straight flatish road but was struggling to get the sped high, but kept the cadebce going to compensate.
Finally on the dual carrigeway at Bear Green and I was flying trying to eek out as much of my reserves that I had left, certainly felt faster along here this morning than last Monday on my training run with John L.
Got back to the HQ had coffee with Dom, who felt very fast today, he obliterated his time from last year by well over 2 minutes with a 45.48 and I managed a 45.02 average speed 24mph, I may have just scraped in the top 10, but our average speeds on this hilly course were slower than the Faygate TT the other week.
