Good news folks the Thunderbirds are back this year :D .
[quote]Always a popular feature of the Southern Counties Cycling Union's Good Friday Meeting the International Motor Paced race is set to return on March 21st.

European Motor Paced Champion Timo Sholz from Germany returns to Herne Hill with his pacer Peter Baeurlein to contest the 22 kilometres race which he won last year. His compatriot Florian Fernow will be paced by a past World Champion at this gruelling discipline Karsten Podlesch.

Two pairs from Holland are scheduled to ride as are a pair each from France and Belgium. The British challenge is headed by Plowman Craven's Simon Gaywood paced by Derek Marloe and supported by James Holland-Leader paced by Colin Denman.

Feel the earth move as the Triumph Thunderbirds roar around Herne Hill!

As much as i "lurve" the track - this is a really good afternoon out.

Plus you get to drink all night at Mark McMercurys house (not really)

It's a great day Snoop but it does get crowded around the track side, particularly on the banking. For those who haven't been to HH you just stand around the track edge, lean over and thump the boards like an idiot as the riders come past. There is a small "grandstand" but you won't necessarily get the best views from there and have to pay a few quid extra for it. You can find somewhere though, just the best spots will probably go early on so you may be on a straight.

Snoop there are normally quite a few families dotted about but if family Snoopington go then you may want to get there a bit earlier to try and nab a good spot. There is a grassy area on the back straight and by the bottom banking so Mrs and Miss Snoop might be able to get the old checkered picnic blanket out if they get bored with the racing. Oh and the Thunderbirds are bloody loud (un-silenced exhausts) so you may want to take some earplugs for Kiera (sp?) for that race.
