Croydon to Coast off-road # 3

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

I'm keen to do this.

There's actually a charity off road ride through the south downs way on the 12th June. There's a choice of distances - 35miles, 65 miles or 100miles. It's being run by British Heart Foundation so I imagine more details can be found on their web site http://www.bhf.org.uk
I was planning on doing this, so would prefer to do the Brighton ride on 19th June.

I'm up for the Croy to Coast ride

I was thinking about doing the same charity ride that Maria mentioned. The 19th will be better for me aswell.

Cheers

why cant we do it on a sunday?
ive got a track meet on most saturdays for the whole year but can do virtually any sunday you like.
so if its on the 19th, I have to pray for rain if i want to mtn bike as track racing doesnt happen in the rain.
19th is a womens omnium event which i really really dont want to miss. theres only 5/6 a year.

sure no one can make the 20th?

so the official london to brighton ride is 20th? thats a road ride though isnt it?
surely they willl all be done by mid afternoon. they start early enough.
last time i went on the croydon off road to brighton it was the london to brighton run, there was loads, i mean loads of runners/walkers on their way to the coast and we had no problems getting all our (8) bikes on the train on the way back at 10.30/11 pm ish.

I want to do the ride. but i dont want to cock it all up for the majority by asking for a day that isnt suitable for everyone.

so it is.

i was thinking if we did do it on that day (sunday), maybe would be good to secure train tickets in advance (and also cheaper). but then again tickets wouldn't be much help if there were loads of people rushing into the train would they? and the cheapest i could find was £11.70 to croydon, does this sound ok?

i'd agree that around 10pm it should be quieter.

Just remembered South Central Trains are not carrying the london to brighton ride back this year, they are using buses and trucks for the bikes. So turning up at brighton station after the official london to brigthon and trying to get a train back will be near impossible, as I am sure there will be some doing the event who will not have booked their return journey with the coach company / BHF and will be trying to get back by train!
Keep it to the saturday!
