yes count me in. been injured my knee on sunday and will see a specialist on thurs. hope he can cure my weak knee this time.

any idea what time will we finish (if i am lucky enough to finish)? wondering whether i can make it to a dinner party that evening?

ha ha, you are joking right? last time it took around 12 hours, 10 hours riding and a couple of hours of stopping for food and water etc.
assuming you are all on the trail by 9am, you wont be back from brighton till 10pm ish if manage to get a train straight away.
it was 75 ish miles off road last time.

In the meantime, please make sure that your bike is in good working order - especially if you don't use it often.

Looking at last year's story it seems there were a few major mechanicals - and I don't mean only punctures - it makes for good reading afterwards but not so much fun on the day.

I'm thinking of an early-ish start - say 8am at East Croydon station - would anyone had a major qualm against this?

Hello all.

My suggestion is that we leave on the Saturday (yes, the 19th June), from East Croydon rail station, say at 7.30am.

This means that we would get to start with a nice off-road bit going through Croham Hirst, Kings Park, Riddlesdown and onto Farthing Downs, instead of a 5 miles boring stretch of road to Coulsdon.

The early start should also make up for the slightly longer route, and all things going well that we should get to Brighton before night - although LEDs would be recommended just in case, and for the ride back from the train to home.

For those who thought it was on the 12th there is always the charitee ride that Maria posted about:

"There's actually a charity off road ride through the south downs way on the 12th June. There's a choice of distances - 35miles, 65 miles or 100miles. It's being run by British Heart Foundation so I imagine more details can be found on their web site http://www.bhf.org.uk".
