Weather warning

Postby Sylv » Sun Mar 09, 2008 8:58 pm

Southerly winds of 35mph with up to 50mph gusts tomorrow, if I had fresh legs I would be attempting a pb for my morning commute.

Is it unreasonnable? Obviously as it's likely to be raining at the same time, will have to be careful.

Nice tailwind on the way to work this morning, albeit a bit damp.
Not looking forward to this evening.

Bit blustery out there what?

A large branch came crashing out of a tree and landed in the road about 20m ahead of me, and a gust of wind from a side road pushed me out to the middle of the lane, I had to hold my hat on so that I didn't lose it at times, my hands were freezing cold, water got into my overshoes, but apart from that it was fine

Pretty mad out there today.

I benefited from a tailwind for the most of the ride, with just a few moments when I was pushed around in other directions (mostly - it seems - when I went past tall buildings that were channelling the wind in different directions).

I didn't see many cyclists although did see one idiot who was still plugged in to his headphones despite the hazards of strong wind and rain.

Not looking forward to going home as I think the wind will be stronger, and I'll be riding into it...

Had a couple of well-dodgy moments on the way in today where my front wheel was suddenly dragged hither and thither. Not often I have to worry about getting blown off on the way to work :|

Think I'll play it safe if things don't calm down by 6pm-ish. Anyone else going to chance it?

I thought I was going to get blown off as there was a sudden gust while I crossed Wandsworth Bridge this morning and unclipped my "getting off" foot in anticipation

I managed to regain control through and continued without too many further incidents - albeit at an impressively high speed with a good tailwind most of the way :D

Didn't notice being shoved along, the wind kept changing direction but mainly felt side. Too many buildings heading in to the city so it always seems to be changing direction. It's not like commuting in to the sticks Paul  .

There was a severe risk that he was gonna go over the side!!!

If not take off!

I remember you pointing him out at the freewheel last September, crazy!
