Best gearing for Holmwood TT circuit ?

Postby BrendanM » Fri May 28, 2004 2:09 am

My present setup is a chainset with 53 & 39 chainrings and either a 12-25 or a 12-27 9 speed cassette.

If I wanted to optimise the gearing fot a 10 mile time trial at Holmwood, is it worth changing the small chainring to a 42 or a 44 tooth?

I'm a light rider and more of a spinner than a big gear pusher.

Assuming we're talking about the Club 10 course then no, save yourself the trouble. The course has no hills as such, a couple of drags but they are perfectly manageable in the big ring unless you like to spin like a hamster. I ride it with a 53 and 12-21 on the back.
