Thanks for all your kind words.
Had all these great plans for using the turbo trainer each morning when baby no. one goes to sleep, no chance! took my bike yesterday to clean it, Its still sitting out in the garden where its been overnight. Anyone else out there with children? how do you cope with it all?

Might make a good article in Cycling weekly, how to mange training and babies?

I didn't!! The lack of sleep (Keira was not a well lass when first born) did my nut  . I was a (n even more) miserable, sullen, curmudgeonly git - for months I'm now ashamed to say. I remember folk asking me what it was like to be a Dad - my answer went something like $$%%ck** big $$£" cking ^^&& ar5e   !

I was in a mess and struggling to deal with the typically male selfish streak in me that refused to acknowledge the wondrous change going on around me. I remember going to see the GP when Keira was about 6 months old. Mrs Snoop refused to go and opted for a half hour undisturbed kip instead. We arrived @ the surgery and the GP said - daughters fine, your f***ed. Up until this point we had Keira in our bedroom - I was sent home with a flea in me ear and told to stick Keira in her own room and grow up (me or her I was never sure). Anyhoo - I'm waffling now, so suffice to say regular sleep returned and with it the ability to think clearly and get stuck into fatherhood, the most fantastic thing it's ever been my pleasure to experience. The return on investment is just off the scale :D :D :D there ain't no credit crunch here 8)

It's the lack of sleep that I'm most worried about, especially at my time of life. Then again, I've never been great on less than eight hours' uninterrupted

Don't know what you''re laughing about - with your experience in these matters, you'll be my first port of call for advice at three in the morning :)

Thank you Bluto.

Slight hijack - did you know that Animal House was filmed in one of my favourite cities in the US - Eugene, Oregon (except the parade at the end which was filmed in nearby Cottage Grove)?

When I first went out there (on a mountainbiking holiday) in the early 90s, I was cycling around town and thinking "This all looks familiar, but I haven't been here before" then I arrived at the UofO campus and it all made sense. All the houses are still there, except the Kai Delta Kappa house (Animal House) which was, apparently scheduled for demolition before filming began.

It's allright, I'm sure the weather is mild enough that I won't need my coat.

I fI can recall right, theres been quite a few births in the past 12 months, we are going to have one strong crop in years to come. I think I might attempt to naturally increase my brother (who is 2 months) haemocrit when he's older :D Lets hope his training ethic is better than mine.

Been through it 3 times and pleased to report still alive and well - it can be a bit tough to start with, but believe me it get's easier :D (until they're teething  - just leave home then!!!) after that' it's plain sailing until they get to their teens  then you fork out a fortune on getting them a good university education, and they can't leave home because they're saddled with huge student debt

Ain't life grand
