Sunday 30th, Brighton anyone?

Postby -Adam- » Wed Mar 26, 2008 7:25 pm

Thinking about doing a Brighton run on Sunday.

As in a 10 days time I'll be sitting in a bar in Bruges, half pissed, and half bricking it about De Ronde van Vlaaderen.

Thats right, it'll likely be more than 9 hours in the saddle for the 259km. My pack came this morning, I'm number 6186, easily my largest event number to date! Now I havn't ridden more than 80 miles so far this year, so this ride needs to knock me into shape in one day!

So, not just any old ride, but a bit of a detour on the return leg. I want to see 200km on my powertap by the time I roll back into Epsom.

I'm thinking head down to ditchling, up and over, fly down into Brighton, see the sea and grab a bite to eat.

Then back up ditchling and head more east through Kent back up towards Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks... that sort of way...

The pace will be very sensible as I am racing the Addiscombe promotion on Saturday, so around the 18av mark.

Thinking of an 8'o'clock meet at CSS. Which for those of you who know me is rather early for myself to even be out of bed, let alone on a bike. But I have been up at 6.30am each of the last 3 Sundays so wouldn't it be a shame to break the chain.

So, who's interested???

Yes but crawling half dead because of the distance my friend, not because of the speed!!

I think the preferred manly term is "crashed" rather than "fallen off" for those of us practised in the art. :?

I was thinking of this anyway and an early start is ideal. It will have to be a sensible pace though otherwise I won't make it.

Fairly straight down there, but I'll bring you back a long way round - want to try out a new route....... :P

Fingers crossed that...

a) I can make this.
b) I can get to CSS in time - If I'm not there I'll still be in bed. If it's raining I'll stay in and hope for a clear window to get out later.
c) I can keep up, should be okay so long as you don't get carried away - If I can't then you clearly didn't try hard enough in the race :) .

Not bothered if you all want to go mad and have a tear up on the way back, I'll just carry on and make my own way back.

CBC with Adam, George, Stu, and PVT - should be an easy ride  .
