All the best Bob and hope you're feeling better soon. I hope the "possible" doesn't become actual and you feel happy to get back on a bike soon.

Was it at he A23/M23 right turn? It can be tricky at times as some of the cars do stupid things to try and nip round you and then dive for the M23 rather than wait a few extra seconds.

This would be good to know where it was, I totally agree with Andrew, that turning is a danger to all of us and probably the worse on our club run (can we divert?).

Get well VERY soon Bob, I am so bad for names but, I have been riding 15/16's since I joined the club in Feb, so the chances are I have ridden with you, I must try harder with names  .
My greatest fear is coming off the bike, and even worse when someone else has had a hand in it. The accidents I have been told in the club are rare but they do happen now and again. Maybe we should be logging the near misses to warn others in the group of a potential accident black spot.

All the best Bob, you seem to have the full support from all of us agreeables at the ACC.

[quote]Luckily there was a policecar sitting on the other side of the road that was in attendance immediately.

Good.

Mark - I took a group on the CR in reverse heading out via Chipstead Valley Road a few weeks ago. It makes a nice change and did recommend that all other groups could/should do it every x number of weeks to break things up.

I like changing routes anyway but there seem a lot of people who want to do the same route every week, it normally ends up being the same faces who do something different.

I don't think we do too bad when you consider the number of riders that are out most weeks to accident ratio partiularly as that normally includes a reasonable amount of new riders or without much experience.

As I usually ride with the Gentle-Souls group, I must have ridden with you, Bob - get better soon.

It may not have actually been the M23/A23 junction, but I am always nervous there. I was knoched off by a Bentley driver about 20 years ago ( got his number, and a witness, so recovered broken-bike costs easily). I think it is safer in a big yellow group, signalling wildly. On my own, I would stop on left if traffic around (there's a cycle lane), and zip across when clear.

I echo Andrew's comment about new routes, for variety rather than safety reasons.

Hi Bob,
Was sorry to hear about the accident and glad to hear you're ok. Get well soon.

Was Michelle Ok? I heard she also went to the hospital, or was that just to accompany Bob?

Sorry to hear about the accident, hope Bob is soon able to get back on the bike again.
The London Cyclist (mag of the LCC) always has a few ads for legal representation for cyclists, I have never used them but the LCC is a good indicator. http://www.cycleinjury.co.uk email:cycle@levenes.co.uk

I've only been out with the club so far and not sure if I met Bob or not. In any case, I'm thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery. Scary stuff!

Marco. Many thanks for the "posts" and please pass on my best wishes to Bob. He is a good club man and will be missed on the J4F/15/16 CR's; let's hope for a speedy recovery for Bob and a return to the CR.

That is a nasty little section of the CR and this incident reinforces the need for each group to keep together and command the road ie safety in numbers. This is important to new riders who join us. As already mentioned some drivers try and cut in front and leave it to late.

Best wishes.
