The cycling 'widow(er)'

Postby Mike I » Sun Mar 30, 2008 9:21 pm

I saw this ludicrous plea for advice in yesterday's edition of sandal-wearing, muesli-eating newspaper...

" I'm a cycling widow

I am married to someone who has turned into a cyling addict. I feel like I am the invisible woman.
MS, by email"

Presumably, she regards this normal state of affairs as a problem. How would you suggest this difficulty be dealt with?

Could be worse; he could have taken up train-spotting.

Do you lot ever think what it would be like for the woman to be the cycling one in a partnership? Especially if the bloke was into more 'normal' hobbies?? Even at a low level of cycling?

Yes, Amy, I do - hence the parentheses. But 'MS', who initially asked the question, says she is a woman.

Why do you ask? Is Huw thinking of building a model railway or something?

Personally, I don't see any problem, as long as she washes and dries the kit, cleans the bike, gets the tea ready for when I come in - then the rest of the day is hers

I really had no idea that there was such a high level of prefessional counselling available here @ ACC. Thanks Guru and Jon for the sparkling advice I'll put it all to Mrs Snoop and get back to you......I reckon ward 5'll have me

Crikey - what's the problem ?? Being a cycling widow can bring about opportunities to do quite a few things. And think about all the fun stuff you could get up to if you became "the invisible woman" while he's off riding his bike all day ! It's flower arranging and shopping I'm talking about, of course !
