New pedals

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:17 pm

After Flanders I was forced to do something unusual, which was clean my bike. During the aforementioned procedure I noticed my keos are more or less worn out. So the question is...Is it worth upgrading the Keo Sprints to the Keo carbons for the extra 30 quid? Will the extra cleat tension on the carbons be better for racing?

Stop mucking about with that French crap and get yourself some decent Shimano Dura Ace pedals!

Blimey how long have they been on there, doesn't seem that long. I thought the cleat tension was adjustable on all the pedals via an allen key like the previous "delta" pedals? Could be wrong as I stuck with the older style (metal and durable) but it would be an odd move to remove the tension adjustment, mind you they took away the flats so you can't use a pedal spanner and have to smash your knuckles on the chainring fitting them with an allen key.

Here Here, the looks can give you knee problems and sliding problems in the cafe, but the Shimano ones never seem to wear out.
I've got the Ultegra ones as I didn't think the weight to £ saving was worth it.

What else are you going to spend your £30 on? Not a new ACC top, that's for sure. If they haven't got them in my size, they certainly won't have them in yours!

Fit some XTRs, banish single-sided clip-in misery and walking difficulties at one stroke

Cheap too Sean :D . I managed to get 3 pairs of the previous top of the range ones in a clearance sale, all three pairs only came to the price of one mid-range Keo. I might have to stock pile cleats at some point if it looks like they're going to stop selling them though.

I have Look Keo Carbon, on one bike and Schimano Dura Ace on the other, and if asked which was the better pedal i would have to go for the Shimano.

Those pedals certainly look (no pun inteaded) the part Sean. The problem with carbon bits and bobs though is they look nice and shiny in the box and shop window but are not actually made to be used, a few rides and they go from being the dogs b's to the dogs dinner. Anyway I got some Look carbons from Pearsons and while we'er on the subject of canine genitalia something deserving of the title would be the custom sprayed (blue and white) Ridley Noahs they've got in the shop. Hand sprayed by Boonans dad apparenlty!
