SCCU 25

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

SCCU 25

Wow - FOURTEEN Agreeables on the start sheet (out of a field of 76!)

A firm foundation for retention of the Rawson Shield.

Now then, just a little word of encouragement...Bec only have three riders entered (heheh) BUT they are all fast and on pretty good form already...Bec have opened their season with two 'fastest team' prizes last weekend alone. It will be VERY annoying if I have to live with Keith gloating about quality over quantity.

Shaun Kennedy did a 56 on the fairly sporting Redmon course yesterday, a minute faster than Keith (who was feeling the effects of hauling me round on the tandem immediately beforehand). And James Hughes is no slouch when he puts his mind to it.

So no slacking...fast rides all round please guys.

Thanks

They can't all be quality as even I caught a Bec rider in the 10  . Granted they were still miles ahead in the team prize...

That would have been Al. He is more of a climber and golfer...but likes to amuse himself and the rest of us by doing the occasional TT.

Shaun, James and Keith are all pretty quick though and are all entered in Sunday's event.

Ugh, that looks like a lot of roundabouts to my untrained eye... I guess at 8am on a sunday the road is pretty traffic free?

It is a lot of roundabouts...and most of the time you get lucky and have a free run at them...but sometimes you have to wait....which is a bit frustrating...especially if you've come flying down a hill and built up a bit of speed. But its not a bad course once you get to know it.

It looks worse in the description than it is when you're on the road. SCCU event so there'll be loads of signs and marshals at the RABs, even the straight on ones. I've only ridden the course twice but from memory the traffic wasn't bad (DC anyway so they've got another lane to go in to) and the road surface smooth.

Thanks Tamar for the rallying Call,

Haven't seen the start sheet yet,14 agreeables on the start line is pretty impressive.
Will be my first TT this year, so expecting a float morning for us all!

Fingers crossed I will be there, Su's Dad has taken a turn for the worse just of late so where all on tenderhooks at moment.

Cheers

Things I like about this course:

some flat bits, good road surface

Things I don't like about this course:

that bl00dy hill, and a couple of horrid drags on the last third

Looking forward to reacquainting meself with the good ole G25/53 after a loooooong winter break

Good luck all - and remember, team ACC are providing the pushers so mebbe, just mebbe Bec will get mysteriously.....held up :?:

[quote]that bl00dy hill

:? Where? Couple of nasty drags out to RABs as I recall (2nd and 3rd turn ones), but nice coming down them.

It's possible I may be a DNS for this one. I'll be in the country for approximately 16 hours, in which time I have to;
Get through Gatwick.
Get home.
Unpack work stuff.
Pack bike & stuff for Majorca.
Pack race bike & kit.
Eat.
Sleep.
Get up.
Have breakfast.
Drive out to race.
Warm up.
Race.
Change.
Get to Gatwick.
Check in.
Go to Majorca.

The schedule is looking a bit tight at the moment

I'll blame you - for not sabotaging Keith's bike when there's ample opportunity.

You could always do all your bike packing BEFORE going on your work trip and then leave your work unpacking until you return form Majorca, so you will only have to arrive, sleep, race and head off back to airport.
