SCCU 25

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

[quote="marco"]Do they still do a 50 over 2 laps of it?

And how  The Anerley 50 last year was probably my most zen race. I did both halves in PB time for 25s - yowza!! Best bit is you only to the hill on lap one 8)

I really like the course. I don't find Tollgate Hill too bad, it's the drags at the end I find really hard. Might have to try your suggestion on them Marco :D

[quote="Tamar"]A firm foundation for retention of the Rawson Shield.

Don't forget all the early season sporting TTs we must've banked a bunch of points already, non...? I wonder if the sporting 25 that was snowed off will count

I miscounted - hadn't spotted PVT - so that's FIFTEEN ACC riders (inc Steve Hehir who's riding as 2nd claim ACC). Pretty much a fifth of the field.

I counted 16 - but that was quite early this morning.

Kieran and I are your friendly pusher-offers. What's the protocol - does the pusher hang on to - and push away on - the saddle only, or does he/she get to grips with any part of the rider?

Most pushers stand by the left side of the rider and hold the bike by the seatpost and top-tube or stem. Let go with the left hand and give a shove with the right hand as the timekeeper says GO.

A few stand astride the rear wheel, hold the saddle and just let go.

And a very few start rocking you back on 5, forward on 4, back on 3, forward on 2, back on 1, and launch you into orbit on zero.

Adrian, Kieran - I'd bring some cycling gloves/mitts with you, at least for your right hand. These TT bikes like to have an aero seatpost/seat tube with a nice point at the back where you push. Normally as Jon says the pusher just gives a little shove, but after about 10 aero seatpins it can start to hurt you hand a bit without a glove. Maybe I'm just a wuss but there are 75 riders to push off :) .

Can look dodgy if someone's taking head on photos.

Had this last Sunday, almost shoved me to the top of the downhill :D .

My seatpost is nice and round, and soothing on the skin... please feel free to push as hard as possible. :D

Hi Adrian, I've done the pushing off lark before for a TT, I did the rocking thing, counting down from 5 and then last big push on 0, but I got tired doing this (maybe we push the ACCer's and just hold the others??), we need to decide how to take turns. 80 riders down, and one a minute gaps roughly, so can do in groups of 5 or 10, 10 riders better as 10min rest allows you to relax a bit.

How are people getting down?, thinking of cycling down - approx 2 hours to get there from SE london by bike. I need to be there at the start
