There are some that work, including swapping the cable clamp to the underside of the clamp, but I can't remember which way that goes now.

all together now.....   d'oh!!

I wonder why the folk I employed to turn my old 9 spd road bike into a 10 spd TT bike didn't spot that then  . Cheers Guru Paul (will be in touch about the 10 spd mech) et al. Hope I've at least provided soe warped amusement.

no worries, it's all good learning. I hadn't realised how many permutations there were relating to rear mechs, number of gears, pitch of chain, pull rations and so on until I embarked on my folding bike upgrade plan. I mean just how hard can it be??? I just wanted to reduce the gear range and have some nicer closer ratios to commute on....

Now I'm slinking along on my Joey with Ultegra mech, SRAM attack trigger, 46 TA chainring and 11-28 cassette. Only took about 4 weeks of planning choosing/sourcing components and one or two (or three) blind alleys and cockups. :)
