[quote="Sylv"][quote]Competitor and police sergeant James Makepeace said the officers, who stopped the race in the village of Leigh, had exceeded their authority and had lodged an official complaint.

Who's lodged the complaint, Makepeace or the officers?

[quote="marco"]spot on - i think in future if theres any sort of possibility of a negative slant to a story we should never display riders in ACC jerseys, we should also be wary when giving journalists facts, because they will only use the ones that will write a shock value story.

was this in the sports section or the news section of the printed copy?

It was a difficult call, when out of the blue a journalist rings up, and I tried to give as balanced view as possible, and add my point of view, so should I have said "No comment" and not co-operated?

a tough call, usually best to simply state the facts (unless you're dealing with the red-tops) and assume/hope the reporter will take the time to write a reasonable report.
On the plus side you do now have a contact and you have "points in the bank" so if you need something covering or you want to raise something else you can mention the unfair coverage you received last time and twist his arm the next time.

that guy who left croydon is a loser. police brutality hmmm...say that to the De Menezes family. i hate it when people come out with comments like that, its quite inconsiderate. i dont have a problem with community support officers, some presence is better than none.

btw Boris Johnson is a loser, I was at something with him rallying support @ Ashburton Learning Village, and the guy is just irritating. I was dragged by dad (who is a conservative, and part of the CMF), and was thoroughly unimpressed. The guy loves to scapegoat problems on people than actually find a solution. But he is a natural speaker.

Good old Charlie Brooker, always a good read. :)
Well I thoroughly dislike both Livingstone and Johnson.
