well sure no wonder you get high heart rates there :wink: completely indoors with a tiny fan! My turbo sessions are in the garage at 6am (usually you can see your breath) with doors open and fan on! Quite nice doing them in the morning as you don't feel 'hyped' when trying to sleep and you can watch the sunlight get brighter etc. the other day I had a fox do a double take and peek into the garage run away and then slowly come back for a second look, bet he was confused :lol:

Maybe I'll try harder next time but I'm basing my zones on my max hr from 2 years ago, I assume it decreases with age? by how much per year, not much I see from the web. Recently I found it hard to get my heart rate up too high, before on the turbo I could get to 195 bpm but yesterday I barely went over 180 when out of the saddle. This was the second turbo day in a row as I am doing them Tuesday and Wednesday morning, that might make a difference. I will have to rejig my sessions anyway to fit around CP from next week.

[quote="Rob C"]My numbers:

Body Fat % 15.85
VO2 Max: 4.65l/min
Max aerobic power 425 or 5.4w/kg
Power @ Threshold 350 or 4.4 w/kg
HR Max 195
HR Threshold 179-184
FTP 288 = 303w avg for 20mins -5%

How does your FTP compare with what you can do on the KK Rob?

Well......the world of pwr taps is full of TLAs (three letter acronyms) and such like.

I was being mischievous (behaving in a way, or describing behaviour, which is slightly bad but is not intended to cause serious harm or damage) and suggesting take it outside power boys :twisted: .

I don't know - give the geeks their own thread and it's not long before they're back here poisoning my luddite brain again. Kids today eh :shock:

Deary me common boys keep up. KK stands for Kurt Kinetic Trainer...FTP Functional Threshold power (the maximum power you can average in 60minutes) has been defined at least 10 times in different threads. :roll: Oops my Bad, you're pulling my leg right snoop :lol:

I can hold 375ish watts for my 2x20 on the KK now so it really over estimates...

:D
Only joking!!!! I do think that the KK overestimates a bit though. The main problem to me is that is bases the power on the wheel speed. I've had a PT for about a month now and you really notice the difference between the two methods. I would like to have a go on a bike that had SRMs, a KK and a PT to see how they compare.

I'm now getting similar numbers for the PT as I did for the KK when I swapped over, having said that I have trained consistently to a plan (no, it wasn't boring) and I feel that I've made some good steady progress. I don't think I could hold 300 for 2x20s though but I like to think that I could get close with a decent RI.

I've seen at least two similar tests on the web
