5 dayer finished (At Last)

Have already given you up to 3 days, the fourth day was a nightmare.

Stage 4 - Bletchingly 110km

I got dropped on about the second lap. I had zero power and hills really hurt. I therefore had to spend 40 miles on my own struggling over the hills around Bletchingly.

Dave Kennett came down when he was in a break away and broke his collar bone. Get well soon Dave.

Stage 5 - Kirdford 110km

This was a short circuit due to road works which meant 20 laps, which meant 20 times up the same hill. I managed to stay with the peleton and hoaray I finished the whole race. I am not sure of my final position yet but it was nearly last, never mind.

What I have learnt is that I need to get a bit fitter for something like this to be able to challenge the leaders. But, all in all I reckon a lot to do with bike racing is mind over matter. You really need to not think about the pain and just go for it.

Overall I really feel like I have achieved something, I don't think many of my mates can say they have completed a five day stage race. Well done to John Sadler who was up with the leaders for all five days.

Cheers

Marek...

Hey merek - You're a top man! I don't know how you did it?. I thought the gap from recently promoted third cat to 5 day stage racer would be far too big. But, you've proved it can be done. CHAPEAU!!
