[quote="Michelle"]To quantify that further Toks, as now i read it back it looks like i am telling you to shuddup!
When you type in CAPS you are shouting; sorry it was just hurting my ears (eyes)
Ha Ha don't be silly I never read it like that at all
Just to qualify re Heart rate av and 2 x 20's. A couple of years ago I stuck religously to 165-170bpms whenever I felt tired, really strong or whatever. After two months I found having taken off a couple of days this
av heart rate was easy to maintain but when really really fit it could be hard to
get my heart rate in to that zone despite feeling good.
So what am I saying? Unless you've got a power meter try and use Perceived Exertion (Feel) as your true guide for 'threshold efforts' and heart rate as a reference point.
Oh and with VO2max intervals, 3-6mins ,heart rate can really stuff up your training. You may be able to hit 170BPM's in your fisrt two reps but the next couple you may only reach 167 or even hit 173BPM's. Whats important is your speed/power if your religously sticking to heart rate zones you're gonna either push yourself deeply into the red or perhaps not work hard enough.
Finally did I tell you the one about the 4th cat who pulled out of a race cause his heart rate went above 92%.
