Palace 22nd April.

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Just a quick word...thanks to all the ACC peeps that turned out to support us last night: Adrian, Orv, Marky Mark, Daniel, Marco and his dog. In my own case I haven't quite got my crit legs yet but crikey that was a fast 3/4 race. When compared with the 3/4 race at Hillingdon a couple of weeks ago it was like 17s v traing group. In the 3/4 race I thought myself, Hal and Kieran all rode well at the front - Matt also did well and was unfortunate to get dropped.

Myself H and K helped cause the bunch split and stayed in the top 10 most of the time. I thought Kieran was incredibly strong last night (2 x 20's baby!!!) and if he's still a 4th cat by the end of the summer he's only got himself to blame :D ...George and Stu rode in the E12's and George had a good go trying to duke it out for 4th in the bunch sprint. A fuller and more quirkier report will follow in my blog tomorrow after my venture tonight at Hillingdon with the vets or 'Oldies but Goodies' (OBG's) as I think we should be called. Last but not least well done commissionaire Paul Tunnel - that looked pretty confusing god know how you sort out the results :D

Hey kieran confusion becomes delusion (see Guy Phillips,3/4 Palalce post on DG below) I like the big fella but common some honesty at least. Him and a few of his group never saw the front 10 for the whole race. How can he feel so smug when he knows he was no way near 8th spot and was clearly just about to be lapped. I still feel bad for that De Ver kid he deserved some points

Hi Toks, indeed the more I think on it the more pi**ed off I get, he and his group never appeared at the front and didn't manage to ride back up into the placings, certainly I never saw guy in front of me and he is easy to spot. As you say I've talked with him a few times over the years and he's a nice guy but still....

It may have been confusing for riders further back in the 34 race but if you were up front you knew where you were and if you were dropped/lapped or not.

Grrrrrr....

What happens with this kind of thing then? Is there any stewards inquiry to sort out the correct results?

I think if it was towards the end of the season and it was a personal quibble about positions 1-6 and I was desperate for points I would definitley complain. Usually if you complain and you've got witnesses they will change the results. Kieran should definitley have had his first points on tuesday nights race which is a shame. I was perhaps just outside the points so have less of an axe to grind. I guess from the officials view point the rely somewhat on rider honesty :?

Hi Orv, as Toks suggests, I'll have a good moan here, but it is up to riders to be honest, after having done the finish line for Henfold Hill race with Paul T and Richard Viney, I know how confusing it can be even for fairly straight forward finishes. As it is the beginning of the season there is still plenty of time to pick up points assuming your performance wasn't a once off and then if it was the points are useless anyway. Not sure what some will do with the points as most were 3rd cat already and if they were lapped in the 34s they'll not make 2nd cat too soon.
