Nah, surely to draw the chicks in we need loads more pics of the toned athletic sporty ACC lads on the site? :D

[quote="marco"]my main thought has been triathletes - if we say we are running introduction to group cycling for triathletes and womens groups on the first saturday of every month - and put this all over triathlon websites and 220

Hmmm sounded good when I first read/thought about that... but then I wonder would that put more off who'd be worried it was just for super sporty types wanting to compete and not those just looking for a social/fitness ride??

<kidding>perhaps have a ladies club run that takes in a selection of boutiques and shoe shops?</kidding>

I would say it's a great idea to do the triathletes. When doing John Leitch's women's training at Hillingdon there were a number of triathletes who went to get their fitness up and their bike skills better and a few were thinking of racing.

Lets face it, the weakest of the three sports for most people is swimming and therefore they need to make up time on other sports.

Cycling can be the best for the heart without stressing the joints. Therefore good idea to be getting stuff into tri mags.

On the other end - ie more of the J4F stuff, I don't have much of an idea how it would be best to proceed. Luckily our VC's tend to be very enthusiastic and possess endless patience, so the less fit newer members are unlikely to be put off. The problem is how to attract them?

Don't worry too much about the triathletes and less fit newbies meeting and being put off by each other. We have so many ability groups it will be easy to split them into appropriate mph groups.

There are plenty of pictures from Hillingdon Imperial Winter season and things like the recent SCCU 25 etc etc but these are all copywrited? Has anyone else got any others?

Perhaps the inclusion of a few blokes in the 'down the pub' photos wouldn't be a problem, but get your hair cut and don't drool too much, if you look too neanderthal it'll never work :D

Ha! I only joined up because I thought 'blimey! Over 40 blokes on a clubrun! There must be someone in there for me.' All I can say is, look how long it took me and what I ended up with :D

Perhaps we need another photo shoot of various 'types' - little Michelle (the nurse who turns up once in awhile in normally a bright pink windproof/waterproof) would be an ideal candidate for the 'just want to have fun and get fit' lot

By imposing great self moderation I'll keep quiet with comments about photoshoots and the wide array of double entendres that go along with photography.

Sorry, anyway Marco when are you next out on a CR? This Saturday the weather looks like it's going to be dandy for piccies. The best bet would probably be to target this or next week (as the 1st of the month run) and ask the ladies nicely if you could take a few snaps at CSS, the cafe, pose a few at the cafe - ride by, opposite with the greenery in the background etc. When I took some of the J4F/15s for you it worked quite well doing it this way, you can also scoot off ahead of a group a bit and snap a few at certain points on the route - Gatton lumps, Reigate golf course, Newdigate etc.

[quote="orv"]hmmmm, thinks.... now that's an interesting idea.
I'll bring my camera along on Saturday, and walk around asking to take pictures of all the lovely ladeees... all for the good of the club of course.
That's it, back a bit, back a bit, arm up a bit.... there, give me angry, now give me kitten, there, now think of chocolate, think of kittens, lovely, now do moody, now vogue....

You may want to consider exactly how much you are taking the pi$$, bearing in mind women in the club do actually read the Forum, and Addiscombe are trying to get women into this club.

I know we are not as strong or as quick as the blokes, and for most of you the women in your life don't cycle. But you are really not gonna
help things by posting sexist comments or by taking the mic.

Nuff said.

Point taken.
Comments were/are intended as a piss take of photographer types and the fashion industry, nothing more. Apologies.

anyway.... back on track (as it were), it was great to see so many women racing on Tuesday night. From the comments beforehand it sounded like it was unusual to get enough turn up for a race to go ahead.

I agree Michelle - we can't expect to have a serious promotion of women into cycling and then undermine our intentions by reducing the subject to rather stereotypical blokish banter.
