How careful are people with what they eat?
Generally careful eating well, but not overdoing it?
Overdoing it a little too often?
Or obsessively anaysing the fat/salt/sugar/calorie content of every single item that passes your lips?

I've certainly been a lot more careful and knowledgeable about my diet since I started cycling... but I do tend to succumb to a curry too many, and have been known to accidentally deplete a family size bag of yoghurt raisins in an afternoon, and if something looks good/new/exciting/different/chocolatey then calorific content comes a secondary consideration.

How am I doing? Normal or not committed enough?

Anything goes, but tend not to have a huge appetite. More or a little and often sort of person than big blow-outs. Cycle enough to keep the weight off.

I decide what I want to eat, eat it and then make sure I put in enough miles to burn it off again.

Many people in the club will tell you this is the wrong approach, and that you should tailor your diet to help you achieve your cycling goals. Although misguided, these people are to be respected and encouraged. The more of them there are, the greater the likelihood that there will be some chocolate cake left when the rest of us get to the cafe.

Hi Orv,
I would probably take your approach (e.g. pizza for dinner last night as kitchen getting tiled), but whilst I don't mind eating some unhealthy stuff (especially curry - also note high quality chococlate and red wine do not fall under the unhealthy category for me), I always eat healthy stuff as well, so for example I just had a slice of coffee cake :D but I will also eat my salad lunch, my 2 apples, 2 bananas, kiwi, natural yoghurt and drink my (innocent) smoothie.

I did a 2x20 this morning and commute to work, and as I weigh 10 stone (63kg) I think its ok.

I would say that when I am trying to lose weight, I am obsessive and will refuse items that are not on the "green" list on the GI diet, but then it all goes pear shaped and TT's, cake, more cake you get the picture. Then there's need to carbo load before an event (read that as excuse to pig out on all the foods I couldn't eat before - I can find carb's in anything!!) and then realise that it's only a 10 :roll:

Chocolate?.....I'm not that restrictive Paul.....I also gorge on fudge, toffee, biscuits, cake, pork pies, nougat, bread, cereals.

That said I'm pretty sure I had an apple yesterday. Or maybe it was on Tuesday. I've definitely had an apple this week...and I had some salad with my (mum's home-made) pork pie last night.

Diet starts tomorrow. :oops:

I eat what I like, and give it little thought other than buying all meat from butcher and fish from a bloke in a van up from Hastings.
Couple eggs on toast and porridge with milk'n'sugar does me for the club run. For instant carbs, 2 minute supper, fresh tag with grated cheese, melted butter and a dash of soy sauce. Instant carbs and protein, fried egg sarnie - fried in olive oil - on malted brown buttered bread.
After Dragon Ride last year a bacon cheese burger with a coke (fully leaded, not the ladies' version) from the van hit the spot. I try to avoid artificial sweeteners, as I hate the aftertaste (Waitrose Tonic water is particularly good, half price of Schh but with smaller bubbles); always eat the skin on roast chicken. Today after lunchtime spin class all i wanted was a tesco pork pie, so had that with a tomato at my desk, washed down with some chocolate milk.
Seem to be stuck around 10 and a bit stone when I can be bothered to look.

I'm what's known in the trade as a Grazzzer. Constantly picking out the fridge, more savory than sweet. I'm also going of big dinners late in the evening, I find it just sits there all night.

But I do just love food. Cycling helps balance the in and out maths.
