Women's racing at Crystal Palace

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Someone on my running forum posted this to me. Did anyone go? Anyone plan to go over the season? Do you need a liscence for this one?

CRYSTAL PALACE RACING - EVERY TUESDAY EVENING: STARTS 22nd APRIL @ 7.15pm

We can have our own race at Crystal Palace Park. We just need 12 women to enter for this to be the case.

This is a short (800m), fast and exhilarating course. There is a climb and a couple of bends for you to practice your skills on. Good road racing practice. Friendly atmosphere. Various categories of rider race there so you'll find your level.

£10 – Entry on the day (Organiser is Michael Moore: Tel – 01689 829682)

Location as follows:

Loads of us did. Check out the other threads for the Palace, they're all over the place. I had a great time up there. I'm going to go next week too. Be rude not to, must take coffee

Sarah, you do need a licence to race, but you can do the odd one off without one by paying a "fine" (which apparantly has replaced the day licence). This is £10 per race plus the race entry fee of £10 at Palace, you just pay both when you sign in. If you are going to do a fair bit of racing then this isn't very good value (and you can't get points on a day licence/fine), but they are a good way to do a couple to get a flavour of it to see if you like it or not.
