Front wheel for TTs

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:44 pm

Last year, I TT'd on my Bora's which have a reasonably dep section carbon rim and are very light.

I have now got a Corima Disc :D , and could carry on using my Bora front, but wondered what if any advantage could be gained from a different front wheel set up?

4 spoke (mentis)
3 spoke?
Planet X insanely deep section  ?
Bora?
anything else?

Thanks

I have the slightly insane Planet-X 82mm front, and it gets a bit scary on windy/gusty days. I tend to only use it on calmish days. When you get passed by a vehicle you can get a slight sideways weave but it's predictable and you get used to it. Quite whether it's significantly faster than my 50mm deep Navigator I haven't a clue though.

Decided on the insanely deep Planet X 101 on the basis that I like the look of it, and it was less than 1/2 the price of the Xentis that I really wanted

Start praying for some calm days, or make sure you take a change of underwear.

Don't worry Jon - holding a tandem straight is much more of a challenge - I'm up to the task

Good enough for Mr.V  . Amazing what you can find to chuck at a bike :D . Is it the right way round? I though the dotted lines led in to the wind because they mentioned they'd stuck 'em on Big Jan's bike when they first came out, or was that a different wheel :? .

Well spotted Andrew, oops I must have put it on the wrong way round
They are the Bees Knees though, at least a 10 second psychological advantage I reckon
