On a similar note didnt London Dynamo bike club and Cyclefit grow out of something like this? Wasnt the first venture a shop with a back room where londoners could leave their bikes for the day around Drummond St or Stukely St? Does anyone else remember that? No robots tho unfortunately.
Yup, Bikepark in Stukely St -- used to use it as a student, originally sponsored by Raleigh.

And while we are at it does anyone remember Paolo Garbinis bike shop in Soho? It was full of hard to find team kit from years and years back. So hard to find I doubt Paolo knew where everything was kept in his shop!!! One of London's best bike shops if you wanted character! (See also Sonic cycles or whatever its called now in lambs conduit St in Holborn)
Yeah I bought a couple of jerseys from there and some iron-on Campag stickers and made my own t-shirts
I actually did an college architecture project based around new premises for Sonic (the shop itself is still called Bikefix) - the guy who ran Sonic was a bit of a character. German -- used to be a baker before he started brazing bikes. His name? Helmut Berns.
