ACC Open 25

Good weather - great results from some of team ACC. I'll let everyone blow their own trumpets. For now - what a morning for me.

Started nice and slow, pushed up the pace after about a minute, controlled my breathing the whole way round, pushed up the hills but not too hard, pushed down the hills, hard but if I'm honest I need to work on that. Gave it everything I had after the final turn and came home in 1.08.33  8) . That's a PB by 1 minute 42 seconds. Add that to last week which was a PB by 55 seconds and you can get a feel for how chuffed I'm feeling at the moment.

I ache like f*** and there were tears in my eyes as I crossed the line. I hurt myself today and it was worth it. Most painful bit was being asked to toddle over to Tesco for more teabags and milk after I'd finished :( I nearly didn't make it back - seizing up fast @ the time.

Thanks to all the marshals, couldn't have done it wthout your sterling efforts guys n gals (particularly liked the big pink hand wave from the Ingram possé. Biggest thanks to the coach - if richv hadn't taken the time out to keep me going through the winter I wouldn't be making these improvements, no way josé.

Bring on the rest of the season please!!

Indeed thanks everyone for a superb effort in getting up early and helping out with the TT today.

Really happy with my ride today, managed to correct all my challenges/Issues I had last week and the results came true.

Tried to keep the power on in a nice rhythm and I was reeling in the riders and spitting them out in my wake :P

New wheels worked a treat and but sounded a little spacecraft like  but were fast!

Finished with a 56.23 nearly 2 minutes up on last week so another PB there :D

Addiscombe Cafe stop on the way back was very welcome with a nice bacon butty.

Well done to you both.
It was a lot less windy today Snoopster, and that surely slowed you down last week, and George knew not to go round all the roundabouts twice!

Thanks Snoop for helping to avert a major riot which would have happened if we'd run out of tea & milk.

I PB'd by 6 seconds and recorded a 58.18. It felt like the hardest 6 seconds I have worked for except for the on the return from the Great Daux roundabout to the finish. All of sudden my legs felt great and I did the last few miles great guns, if only it had been like that for the whole way. When it is I might even get close to George. Unlike last week when he said that he had hardly been out of breath he looked like he had worked hard for it today. Fantastic ride roll on for his sub 2 hour first 50 next week  I also found that my front tub was punctured when I got home :(

Well done to Snoop for his PB and to Ben for sticking at it this week. Cracking ride by Mr McLaughlin as well, the compact was spinning nicely. Thanks for all the marshalling and shouts.

I had quite the opposite ride, the slowest 25 I have ever done and as you can imagine I was pretty peed off with myself. After a quick cuppa I made my excuses and left.

To top it all, I left my training top with the pusher off, I think it was Rob C, I was to collect it at the hq after. You guessed it. Forgot to pick it up. Did anyone take it home with them?

Thanks to Tamar and the army of helpers.

Not sure where the tops are now but I left them in the village hall behind the desk where the results were being collated. Michelle and another lady were there...

My first TT this year so just getting back into the grove of things. Felt reasonably ok from the start, seemed quite warm which helps the legs and decided to keep a good spin going without overgearing on the drags. Happy with my ride with a new PB 1.01.03, well done to all our other PB’s especially Georges 2nd 25!
Thanks again for another great ACC event and for the encouraging shouts from you marshals.

Hmm a bit disappointed with that 1:12. Felt good, good start didn't go off too quick, nice steady start then cranked it up a little. Can't believe how #80 went past me like a train!
Had my 'angry chicken' helmet on which worked a treat, keeping the wind out of my eyes/face. Had speedo working and tried to keep the average above 21. Struggled a bit after 19 miles and slowed up a bit too much. Kept it smooth on the drag towards the end though and when i noticed another bike coming up behind threw everything I had into a final sprint.
felt better. but no quicker. :(

Sorry, I've been a bit slow getting the results out and doing proper thanks to all the marshals.

In the meantime, here's the ACC results from a field of 108 finishers:

George Brent 12th 0:56:23
Dominic Lowe 24th 0:58:18
Mark McLaughlin 42nd 1:01:03
Jon Hemming 43rd 1:01:05
Paul Tunnell 67th 1:04:06
Tamar Collis 84th 1:08:04
Doug Shaw 90th 1:08:33
Ben Fancourt 91st 1:08:52
Terry Hill 92nd 1:08:54
Ivor Hewitt 104th 1:12:58

Addiscombe A team were 4th, B team 12th and C team 17th out of 24 teams.

Thanks to all who helped make it a truly Agreeable Promotion. I may have been the 'organiser' but it's a Club Promotion and would not have happened without the hard work of:
Pushers: Sylvain Garde & Rob Crozier
Marshals: Carole Heritage, Mike Ingram & his daughter (sorry - don't remember her name - please let me know), Alex Protasiuk, Jon & Sam Camden, Mike Trim, Peter Kozlowski, Paul Blackburn, Adrian Ashworth, Daniel Gower, Hal Bransby, Steve Broomfield, Ian Pringle, Brian Robinson, John Cochrane
Time keepers assistants: John Lovell & Joe Wand
Signs: Jon Hemming
Canteen: Amy Robinson and Keith Lea (cakes by Ruth Tunnell, Mike Ingram, Snoop & Kiera, and me)
Results: Paul & Ruth Tunnell, Michelle Le Brun
Spreadsheet wizardry: Paul Tunnell
Other help: Keith Coffey, Snoop

If I've missed anyone please let me know - I'd like everyone to get a mention on the final results sheet.

Aww Snoop, you're an extra champ for struggling over to Tesco for us - as Keith says, there would've been a riot if we'd run out of tea and milk!

I'd just like to say that Keith Lea was the best canteen assistant ever! I barely had to think that I needed a fresh pot of tea and one would appear on the table ready to go! As we seemed to be feeding and watering every single person there at least twice if not three times...

And as for the cakes everyone made - they went like, well, hot cakes :!: Keith and I managed to sample one or two and we have to agree that they were all scrumptious :D

Excellent set of results, and sounds like tip top organisation too :D .

Super stuff particularly from George, Snoop, and Dom. Nice start to the year Mark, under the hour later this season then.
