Charlotteville CC 50

Just got back from a great day on the A31. Travelled down with George and had a quick drive on the course. We both commented that it looked fast. I was off first of the Agreeables and started steady as planned. Then just found myself getting faster and faster way before I planned. The bottom bit of the course was slow and bumpy but heading up to the Farnham roundabout was very fast. 53x14 for me most of the way. I really hammered it between 20 and 40 miles and caught my minute man Rob Douglas from Norwood Paragon at about mile 30. This is the same chap I had a ding dong battle with at the end of the Redmon 25, so I knew I was going well or he was going badly. It turned out both at the end.

Came to the last 10 miles and began to suffer. I thought I was going to blow it big style so I throttled back a bit which helped stop the sick feeling that I had been experiencing. Got to the last couple of miles and I was in hell, couldn't control my breathing felt sick and it felt like I was going backwards. You would think having ridden past the finish twice during the ride I would have remembered where it was, oh no not me. Got passed by no 40 for 4 minutes within sight of the line. I have never felt such relief at finshing a race. That coupled with getting my backside off the saddle to relieve the crippling pain in my crotch Ho hum, so much for lowering the saddle.

Back to the HQ for a bit of wait and cuppa. Time recorded 1.57.26, a PB by 3 minutes, well chuffed
