Maximum Speed Titsey Hill

OK, this is a bit childish, but what's the fastest anyone has been down Titsey Hill?

I clocked 44.3mph the other day but that was on the hoods with a slight tweak on the brakes just before the left hander by the church as my bottle went  .

That extra 5.7 mph is elusive but I figure keep pedalling and stay on the drops might get it.

53.

on the other hand the last time I went down at speed someone pulled straight out just before the bottom bend and luckilly I had just enough space to slow. I no longer attempt v-max on the descent. :)

Doesn't strike me as the best place to get a pb? Rough surface and not all that steep. There are a few steep streets in Coulsdon but very short and with a STOP at the end. Remember hitting over 72kmh on my mtb.

54.7mph :D

That was about 18 months ago though and the road surface has got a bit worse just before you hit the smooth S bend at the bottom, so don't go as quick down it at the mo as it can get a bit bumpy and it's not as easy to stay on the line you want - normally between 45 and 50 now. Didn't pedal out before the drop-in part by the White Lane turn off so if the road was resurfaced then could definately go quicker, you just need to get your line right through the S bend as that's where you get the max from just as you swoop through the second part of it - and don't go near your brakes.

Not that I'm childish and like flying down this hill or anything.

Dombo, go down on the drops as you'll get more speed and be much more stable.

What, you walk down it with a puncture? :D

54mph a couple of weekends ago - not the best road to go fast on though, bit rough, not very steep and a turn at the bottom

Can't wait for Llangynidr Moor at the end of The Balck Mountains tour later in the year - the only road in the UK where I've gone over 60mph - its not much steeper but its smooth as a billiard table, there's always a tail wind coming off the moors and its LOOOOOOONG

My fastest was 60mph on the ski slope start of the Q10/19 using a dustbin lid disc and a 56 ring!!!

Managed 59mph in the alps racing Mr Coffey down a mountain before braking insanely hard for the sharp right hander at the bottom

Can't remember any speed down Titsey, but tend to back off after a car pulled out of White Lane on me
