The 3 Amigo's in Andover

Postby George » Sat May 10, 2008 8:35 pm

John Lovell, Paul Tunnell and myself traveled down to Andover for the Crabwood CC 10 TT an the A303.

Only thing was it wasn't a flat course :? because it started right ontop of the biggest hill for miles around and you didn't have to ride back up it :D .

The day was absoloutly fantastic weather, very warm and just the right atmospheric conditions for some good times, also there was no wind whatsoever, It was a FLOATER

John set off first and Paul and I rode to the start to cheer him off, he rode like an absoloute train and put all his effort and training for the past year to good effect with a super ride. Paul and I rode a nice long route to see him at the chequred flag, I was worried we were off on a Tunnell adventure and wouldn't get back to see him in time as I knew John wasn't hanging around!

On the ride Paul and I tried to guess what John was gonna do, Paul said a 26 but I had some confidential training information and said 25 :o

John came across the line absoloutely knackered just wanting some water, but he was so chuffed with his time he was made up, and didn't stop smiling and talking all the way back to the HQ with one of his fellow Veteren competitors.

Paul was next off after a 2 hour break and a quick spin up on the rollers had him sweating and ready to pounce onto the dual carridgeway ahead.

Off he went and I followed 20 mins later for my start time. 5,4,3,2,1,Go wap straight down the big hill and past the photographer, then I spotted Paul at the side of the road near the finish he was super happy and shouting at the top of his voice 22 Yes go George.

The course was quick and the DC was blurring past underneaf my wheels, the speedo was registering and average of 31.2 mph which was nice

Really gave it some wellie on the out leg and caught and shot past no.78, I think he looked a little confused to see a 9 on my arse

I had a quick man on the 0 behind and I had already told Paul he wasn't catching me, and didn't. Got to the turn up and over the dual carrigeway and negotiate 2 roundabouts, but the best bit was the DC descended down slightly and the slip road off was level 8)

Back round down the offslip and the surface was a bit bad so I had a quick shifty over my shoulder and got straight over the nearside lane as quickly as possible which was as smooth as a baby's bum

The miles were zipping by quite nicely but I was starting to suffer like a dog, I had given it everything and was just squeezing out the last bit towards the finish and crossed the line pretty spent, I purposefully didn't wear my heart rate monitor as I didn't was that to affect my riding on the short balls out 10 course.

Back to the HQ and there were 3 very happy Agreeables indeed.

John Lovell 25.56 PB by nearly 2 minutes :D :D

Mr PVT 22.15 2nd fastest 10 TT EVER :D :D

George 20.51 PB by nearly 4 mins, Won the best improved prize by a mile :D :D

The right conditions on the right course on the right day, toptastic mate  :D

We have just got to get a guy called Ringo to join the club, then get him to start TT-ing.

Those are stunning times. Given the lovely weather, early sunrise, the results, a few teammates to go with who all did well - what a great morning it must have been.

I'm expecting to be travelling along the A303 in a couple of weeks. If someone can let me know the course details, I'll see if I can drive round it faster in my car. Not sure that I will be able to......
