Club run 10 May

well that was an interesting experience, doing the club run with out a bicycle - bet I confused a lot of you :D

Arriving before and staying after the time we normally there, seeing the club come in is like a small tornado whipping in for about an hour and a half

And like a town in the wild west, the locals know not to come near the 'saloon' when the bad boys ride into town

Anyway, back on the bike tomorrow for the SWRC May flyer :D

Another fabulous day and another great club run :D

Brian and I had decided to join the B training group, but when there were only 3 takers for the A training group, I got a bit worried as the likes of Stu and Paul (racing the next day), made their way forward to join the B's. Not sure if the pace would be too quick, but hey ho, give it a bash

A nice sized group of a bout 8 left CSS with me on the front. Not having a computer on board I had no idea of speed, but I set off at what I thought was right. Quickly I realised it may be a tad quick for me, and was about to ease off a touch when Brian came alongside on the DC seeming quite comfortable. Oh dear I may be in for a tough day  We continued at the front all the way to the brow past the M23 turn off, where Brian said "ease up". He was struggling to keep that pace going and was thinking I was comfortable, whereas I felt it was the other way around - mm its all in the mind :?

We soon picked up the A training group, minus Keith with a puncture, swelling the group to 11, I think. Mike (wal) was flying, doing some big efforts on the front really stretching the group out. Most did a share of the work and we all managed to stay on :D, until all of a sudden the elastic snapped for the 'B boys' and we watched hopelessly as the 'A's rode off up the road. By the time we got to the trees before Rusper, my legs were cooked and I faded away. This seems to be a critical point of a club run for me when the pace is quick. The rise in the road there, tips me over the red line and I don't have enough energy left to dig in. Something to work on, obviously

A re group at the DC (inc A's) meant for a pretty quick thru&off and run in to the cafe. I wont write about the sprint as I have the feeling you are getting bored reading about it each week  22.7mph av to cafe :D

Nice run back to Coulsdon with Brian and Mike, and an insanely quick Merstham drag trying to hold on to the back wheel of Mike's bike as he let loose all he had left - very quick rider, we need to get him racing

Great day

Steve :D
