Club room 14th May, wheelbuilding pat 2...

...The truing!

Yes it's true, the second part of the wheelbuilding class is upon us. Bring your tea and cake money.

This week we will be finishing off the wheel that Adam re-rimmed last month (don't forget to bring it, Adam) and looking at the truing methods available using a proper wheelbuilding jig and also, assuming we have time, looking at how you can build a temporary jig out of your bike frame, 2 pencils and some blutac (or duct tape, if you must).

Also, could somebody who can get to Butlers before tomorrow evening drop me a private message, please? I have a favour to ask.

Had a little go at truing the wheel in question yesterday as it happens... Although it is much straighter than before, it is far from perfect! Still reckon I could probably ride to the pub on it!

What do you need from Butler's Grahame?

Also, what time is it, 8.30 again?

 8:30pm kickoff again, yes.

I need a replacement Ambrosio Excellence 32 hole black rim to replace the one that got run over in *that* incident a few weeks ago. If you are able to get one for me, please keep the receipt. Ta.

A mahoosive thank you to Grahame for sharing his wisdom yesterday, and last month. Wheelbuilding is one of those things that has always seemed a bit of a black art to me, but thanks to his plain English explanations and demos the mystique has been removed.

A fantastic amount of double-entendres involved in the process too which always pleases my childish mind.

I'm confident enough to get my hands on my nipples and do a couple of rim swaps now.

  none of us offered cake to Grahame - heresy!

Of course we didn't want him to get his fingers greasy before working on the wheel ...

But by the end of the session Alan had eaten all the cake!
