ECCA 50 TT

Paul Tunnel and I rode this morning unfortunately Rich V was a DNS so maybe he overslept or something

First time I had ridden this course up here and Paul was telling me how many times he's rode around it in the 12h 100mile etc etc, we even rode past the infamous Big Mac roudabout!

I was off 7 mins ahead of Paul who cheered me off, a few miles of nice smooth country lanes the bosh straight out onto the A11 into a slight headwind, but I kept my chin down and didn't really notice.

I was passing riders every 10 mins or so and kept a nice rythm going and spun the legs, round the turn and WHOOPEE with the wind and the tarmac was rapidly whizzing past beneath my feet and had it mostly on the 11 & 12 at the back 8)

Left at Mcdonalds again and this section of road which we though would be fast was a bit into the wind and not as quick I first imagined.

Then no. 70 caught me 2 miles before the finish, he passed me then seemed to ease up so I overtook him and cheekily told him to go faster but he couldn't speak to me as his face was screwed up in pain suffering and snot, so we pretty much rode side by side till the finish, maybe I should be trying harder cos I sure as hell didn't feel as awful as he looked

Cheered Paul past the HQ for his finish, when Paul got back he had struggled with the wind on the way out and lost power on the way back, still we both finished ok with no problems :D

Paul 2.07.05
Me 1.54.20 new PB :D

Stunning time again George, even more so if the wind was anything like it was in Ashford, it was horrendous there.

Well done George. No oversleeping this week. Had a stinking cold and decided bed was the place to be. Looking at Paul's time I'm quite happy with my decision.
