TT Dates (Evening 10s Sign up now) / Club events ??

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

TT Dates (Evening 10s Sign up now) / Club events ??

Postby Ben » Fri May 09, 2008 11:06 am

Is there a list somewhere of when the club time trials are, especially the evening 10s.

Evening 10, 10th June, first rider off at 7.45 pm, 4 helpers needed
Evening 10, 24th June, first rider off at 7.45 pm, 4 helpers needed
Evening 10, 8th July, first rider off at 7.45 pm, 4 helpers needed
Evening 10, 22nd July, first rider off at 7.45 pm, 4 helpers needed
ACC President’s 10, 13th September, first rider off at 10 am, 5 helpers needed

Hello to all you ACC Testers, old and new. Especially new! If you've never taken part in any cycling event other than the clubrun, contact Jon Hemming NOW and have a go next Tuesday 27th May at 7.45pm on the 1st club evening 10 mile time-trial of the season, just south of Dorking on the A24.
I'm looking forward to trying out the club's new timepiece!

No, this one is a slower course. Known as the Holmwood. G10/42.

27th May, helpers for this one. Andrew G has kindly offered, and seeing as how I've left it so late to do reminders etc on this one I will help too. Saw Joyce @ committee tonight and I think she will cover asst timekeeper. So if Mr G does pushing off and I cover the turn with me poirate flag, arrrrr. With Tim @ the finish that should do it I think, yes..?

Jon - is that enough cover for this d'you think?

I think it'll help Tim to have a number spotter at the finish or he has to try and keep an eye on his stopwatch, what he's writing, and the rider's number. Particularly tricky if two riders cross the line close together.

Just thought, I can number spot for Tim once I've pushed off - so long as the field isn't too big and the first few aren't too quick.

No HQ Ivor for club 10s, far more informal (and a lot less than 120 riders to cater for) and only £3 a go I think.
The course is below for anyone who doesn't know it, but it's so simple even Locky would struggle to get lost - but I expect he'll manage to take the wrong exit at the first roundabout  . Simple for next Tuesday, just stay on the dual carriageway until you see Snoop and then turn and come back.

The start is in Spook Hill but it can be a bit crowded for cars and annoy local residents so it's best to park in the National Trust car park (free) at the top of Inholms Lane (on you right at the 90 degree left hand bend on the map). This is where everone will meet and regroup after the event for the times to be delivered to your eager ears, so makes sense to park there anyway.

yeah, it was more the parking I was thinking about. didn't think the residents would appreciate cars everywhere.

aha. grand.

There is a local Time Trial rule that forbids parking in Inholms Lane within sight of the start, and if you stand on a chair, can see right to the bottom of the hill

Thanks for all the offers of help. All we need now is some riders! Ivor why don't you have a ride if you can get there?

As it's half term, my son might come and help me with the number spotting etc. make a nice break from revising for his GCSE's - he'll be half-way through them by then anyway.

Please contact Jon Hemming by Monday if you're thinking of riding so he can compile a start sheet and give you a handicap (break your leg, let your tyres down, tie weights onto your carbon framesets etc  ). PM him on this forum, or email jrhemming@yahoo.com
