Blond bombshell in Hackbridge - Dan Gee was that you?

Postby Amy » Thu May 22, 2008 10:39 am

An Addiscombe rider came past me as I walked to the station this morning and by the wild suicide blond hair sticking out from the helmet  I believe it was Dan. Was I right?

We need a "who are you" section. :)

I passed an agreeable last night as I was heading into tandrigde (I was incognito in red and black) and shouted a "HULLO!"
I'm sure there's another agreeable I keep passing on the route too although I've only seen him an addiscombe yellow once.

I saw Dominic as I was riding up to top near Titsey hill last night, doing my hilly intervals.

He didn't stop to say hello...

I used to live in Hackbridge and I never saw any blonde bombshells (oh yeah the Mrs excepted of course). This is a good idea, I saw someone in one of the retro style Addiscome tops at the lights at Crystal Palace heading towards Croydon on my commute home but never got close enough to him to say hello. I suppose I need to get some addiscombe stuff myself.

tsk, tsk, shame on you. I doubt it was me as I don't commute in Addiscombe kit, it makes all the light jumping pillocks try and race you even more. I did it once and some bloke kept trying to give me the race face look at the lights  .

It could've been Richard M as I saw him commuting in such a wonderful garment the other day.

I'm glad you have to commute up Chalpit or Titsey Ivor, you deserve to be punished.

Heh heh. now you know I don't mean it. :)

Contended with yet more f***ers ambling through red lights this morning to get in front of me and then not knowing when the lights changed behind them as I hared through in "sprint mode". sigh.

Happened on three occasions today. Dunno what was wrong with me this morning, I seemed to be in angry mood. Might have loudly yelled "get out of the f*****g way" as I blasted past on one occasion. ahem.
oh and I went over the white line and reversed my back wheel up onto the bumper of a car that had placed himself in the advance stop box at tower bridge. ahem.

I'm calm now. Must have been the weather or something.

I was well annoyed to not have my front lights with me last night but just couldn't face having to take the train after a long day's work, so I rode home in stealth mode
I don't advise doing it of course but it made the lorry-drafting even more thrilling - difference from with lights is that you absolutely cannot be expecting them to see you
Which is fine as long as you keep your fingers on the brakes at all times, one eye on their braking lights and the other on what's happening ahead of them.
I had my back lights though, without which I wouldn't have tempted fate that way, as you can't do anything about what's coming from the back
The only really dangerous bit was the last 1/2 mile, dark road with side streets and lots of traffic on them, had to ride on the pavement

Have you got any backupz Sylv? I always carry some for commuting regardless of the time of year. They're tiny but for just one LED are pretty bright. I've normally got a couple of front ones so I can have one on steady and one flashing. Even in mid summer they've come in handy when I got caught in a thunder storm and it got really dark.

Always worth having some of these sort of little lights either in your rucksack or tucked away somewhere:

Obviously not a main light replacement but better than having nothing and they're tiny enough you can just stash them away somewhere.

I do this all the time  If you time it right you can get a bit of kick-back from the bumper as you pedal off ...

I do have some backupz but the problem is they are so small i never know where i've put them ...
